Health Insurance
Provincial healthcare (OHIP, MSP, RAMQ), 3-month waiting period, interim private
Summary
Canada has a public healthcare system managed by each province. As a permanent resident or employee with a valid work permit, you're entitled to provincial healthcare, but some provinces have a waiting period of up to 3 months. During that period, you need private interim insurance. Public care covers GP visits and hospital stays, but NOT dental, eye care, physiotherapy, or prescription drugs โ for these you need supplementary insurance.
