Canada's immigration system is managed by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The main program for skilled workers is Express Entry, a digital points system (CRS โ Comprehensive Ranking System) that ranks candidates. Since 2023, IRCC conducts category-based draws alongside general draws, allowing candidates in priority sectors (healthcare, trades, tech) to need lower CRS scores. Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) offer alternative pathways to permanent residence.
